Upper Body Workshop
Saturday, April 23, 1:00 - 3:00 pm
So many yoga poses require strength, mobility and control in the upper body. But if the poses that demand those abilities are out of reach, how do you work toward doing them? We are often told, “just keep trying and it’ll happen.” What if instead, you break down some of these poses, work on your shoulder range of motion, or upper back strength, or spinal mobility, or arm strength? This workshop will look at poses such as Chaturanga, Upward Facing Dog, Side Plank, and Reverse Table. We will dissect poses into smaller components, activate specific parts, and then integrate what we’ve learned into the bigger pose.

Upside Down? No. Way!
Friday, May 13, 6:00 - 8:00 pm

What are the skills necessary for Handstand, Headstand, and Shoulderstand? Why does anyone need to go upside down? If you're afraid to go upside down, should you just force yourself to get over the fear?
The fear is usually there because some aspect of the pose is out of your ability at this moment. Rather than try to override the fear, let's break down the three most commonly taught/practiced inversions into their components. By working on what kind of strength is required, where do you need more mobility or more stability, and how do you get there for each one, as ability is acquired, the fear lessens. When the fear is gone, maybe you’ll do a handstand. And maybe not.
This workshop is for all levels. It is geared toward those who are not currently doing inversions for various reasons. You do not have to do any actual inversions to attend this workshop.
